REGION

Treviso, Italy

Spumante comes from Treviso in the Veneto region, the historic center of Prosecco and one of Italy’s key sparkling wine areas. The rolling hills are formed from limestone and clay, warmed by Mediterranean light during the day and cooled by alpine breezes at night. This pattern of heat and freshness preserves the essential character of Glera: ripe fruit supported by crisp acidity.Viticulture has shaped Treviso for centuries. Roman vineyards once covered these slopes, and by the Renaissance the region’s sparkling wines had become part of Venetian celebrations and daily life.Treviso remains defined by this tradition, a landscape where sparkling wine is woven into culture, craft, and everyday ritual.

WINEMAKING

The Making of Spumante

Spumante is made from grapes grown on Treviso’s limestone–clay hills. The approach prioritises clarity and delicacy rather than extraction or intensity. Grapes are pressed gently to protect Glera’s light aromatics, then cold-fermented in stainless steel, a method chosen specifically to maintain the grape’s pear, apple, and floral notes. The wine matures for twelve months to settle and integrate before the alcohol is removed. Dealcoholization is carried out at low temperature to preserve perlage, acidity, and the subtle aromatic compounds that define Glera, rather than reshaping them.

GRAPES

Glera

Spumante is crafted from Glera, the traditional grape of Treviso’s sparkling wines. Glera is naturally high in acidity and produces a light, clean profile that works well in both traditional and dealcoholized sparkling styles. These qualities, subtle aromatics, crispness, and a naturally airy character, make Glera especially suitable for a sparkling wine focused on clarity and finesse.

Glera – Known for notes of pear, green apple, and white peach, with a gentle floral lift. Its thin skins and low tannin level allow for a precise, delicate expression, and its acidity provides the structure needed to carry freshness even after the alcohol is removed.
